Welcome to Canto do Francês!

We are a rustic, family-run inn founded in the early 2000s by the French photographer Thierry Carliez, when he fell in love with the enchanting Marajó Island and decided to settle in these mystical lands.

As ours Carlos Drummond de Andrade once wrote,

"The Marajó Island is a fantastic thing, you just have to see it... And after seeing it, you may not believe it. You see, feel, live Marajó! It is difficult to describe (...)"

For 20 years, we have prioritised building relationships with our guests, paying attention to every detail to ensure your comfort and cosiness. Location

We are located in the peaceful neighborhood of São Pedro, only 1,2km away of the city centre and 2,4km away of the beautiful Barra Velha Beach's trail. Despite our excellent location, some sightseeing tours, such as the farms, are a little further away and located in environmental preservation areas.

Marajó is an island where the horizon stretches far beyond the eye can see. But do not worry. Once you are here, getting around will not be a problem: there are many options for motorcycle taxis and taxis (all the way from the Port of Soure, where you first arrive).
